PACOIMA, Los Angeles — A devastated wife says she’s seeking justice after her husband was fatally shot on a Pacoima street early Friday.
The shooting took place in the area of Brownell Street and Woodcock Avenue shortly before 1 a.m., according to officials at Los Angeles Police Department. Police responded to that intersection after receiving reports of gunshots. While they hoped for the best, police arrived to a gruesome sight.
A man was found with multiple gunshot wounds, officials said. He believed to have been shot with a 9mm weapon and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Wife of Fatally Shot Man Seeks Justice
Tasha Marshall identified the shooting victim as her 51-year-old husband Todd Marshall. She said she doesn’t want compensation from the city or empty sympathy. Rather, she simply wants those responsible for her husband’s death to face the music.
“I just want justice. I want them to be caught,” she said.
Friends shared that the neighborhood all knew Todd and that he never started trouble. They said they don’t know who would do this to him. Of course, many from the neighborhood are concerned about this sudden, seemingly random violence.
“He was a good person. He loved his bikes and stuff. He’s wasn’t in no gang or nothing like that, so I’m hoping them cameras can tell everything,” said Shirley Reese, the victim’s aunt.
Investigators found 8 shell casings at the scene but said they have no immediate information on Todd’s killer or killers.
Authorities do not yet have a motive for the shooting. They will certainly conduct a thorough investigation of this tragedy to see if they can determine one. After all, Pacoima is far from a hotbed for violence. Having something like this happen in a relatively sleepy Los Angeles suburb is disconcerting to say the least.
